On June 14 at 00:55 hours Companies 3, 13, 9, 6, & 7 were alerted for a working apartment fire. Engine 32 responded shortly after dispatch followed by Engine 132 and Engine 91.

Engine 32 dropped a supply line at the second entrance of the Foxchase apartments and Engine 132 performed the task of water supply. Engine 32 reported smoke showing from a first floor apartment at the A/D corner of the structure. Chief 3 arrived at this time and established the command. The crew from Engine 32 quickly deployed a 1 ¾” attack line as the officer forced entry to the front door. The crew entered the apartment with moderate smoke and heat conditions. As they progressed to the fire room, they discovered the fire had burned itself out. Engine 132 pulled a backup line to the front door. Engine 32’s linemen performed hydraulic ventilation from the bedroom window while the officer from Engine 32 and crew from Engine 132 preformed the primary search of the apartment with negative results.

Engine 91 arrived taking a secondary water source and established the RIT. Tower 9 arrived shortly after and started assisting with ventilation. Engine 32 reported to command (Chief 3) that the fire was out and requested the Maryland State Fire Marshall for investigation of the cause. Command held units from Companies 3, 13, & 9 and placed all other units in service. As the crews on scene confirmed no other apartments were affected, the residents were allowed to return to their respective apartments. All remaining units were released except for Engine 32 which stayed to assist the Fire Marshall. Engine 32 was able to return to service by 03:00 hours.
