June 11, 2014

Around mid-day on June 7th, Calvert Station 3 was dispatched for a smoke investigation in the Ranch Club in the area of Yosemite Lane in Lusby. At 1209, Calvert upgraded the dispatch to a Working House Fire at 661 Yosemite Lane adding Calvert Stations 3, 7, & 2 as well as St. Mary's Station's 9 and 7. Calvert Engine 34 arrived on scene and declared an exterior only operation with a 3/4 involved house. Engine 91 arrived and assumed third due engine company duties laying out from a secondary hydrant which was picked up by Hollywood Engine 74. Engine 91's crew began a primary search after determining that interior ops were in progress. After the search the crew assisted crews inside opening up the inside and extinguishing the remainder of the fire. Engine 33 assisted with overhaul. Units operated on scene for about three hours.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a lightning strike from a passing thunderstorm with origin in the attic.

Units: Engine 91, Engine 33
