By Firefighter Daniel Martin
August 18, 2012

On 8/11/12 at 20:55 Bay District Stations 3 & 9 along with Lexington Park VRS Stations 38 & 39 and the St. Mary's County ALS were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with reports of entrapment. Engines 32, 92 and Squad 3 all responded moments after being alerted. After receiving reports of entrapment Assistant Fire Chief 3 (Wahrenbrock) requested NDWFD to respond with the Haz-Mat unit that is equipped as a heavy rescue to respond to assist with extrication.

Engine 32 arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles in the roadway with one patient trapped. Moments later engine 32 advised communications that there were 2 patients with serious injuries and another patient that had succumbed to their injuries. Engine 32 requested MSP Trooper to medevac the two serious patients to a trauma center. MSP Trooper 7 & 2 initially responded and trooper 2 was later cancelled as Trooper 7 transported both patients.

NDWFD Engine 132 handled the landing zone for MSP Trooper 7.

The Officers and Members of Bay District send our condolences to all families involved.
