Happy Birthday America!!!!!

By Public Information Officer Douglas Medley
July 6, 2012

It was America's birthday and we were ready for the biggest little parade in Maryland. Every year on the 4th the citizens of the Town Creek subdivision have been putting on a parade and we are always on the invited list. You would think that on a holiday that we would have a hard time getting our members to leave their families and come out but that was not the case as we were able to man all our equipment with crews along with their families.
It was a hot morning already and we staged in the parking lot of the church on town creek drive then drove I'm guessing two blocks to the swimming pool area for the end. I told you it was short but the road was lined up with spectators waving the red, white and blue American flags and shouting U.S.A. all the way. Now there were no trophies being handed out in the end but then just the smiles on the faces of the kids are reward enough.
After the parade and upon returning to station 9 it was time to fire up the grill for everyone to have some hamburgers and hot dogs, always a favorite on any day. Thanks to all of our members and their family's for coming out and taking part in the celebration of America. To all of our citizens of the Town Creek area our hats are off to you for making this day special.
I have also included a few photos' taken while in Ocean City for the firemen's convention. A big way to go for the Hollywood Volunteers for taking the award for best appearing company in the whole state of Maryland.
