By Firefighter/EMT Jeff Evans
January 6, 2012

On January 6, 2012 at 2349 hours the Bay District Volunteers along with Second District VFD&RS, Leonardtown, Avenue and Lexington Park EMS were dispatched to 44671 Boxwood Drive in Callaway for the House Fire. Engine 33 (Sgt. Ticson), Engine 93(FF. Alioto) and Truck 3(Sgt. Thomas) all responded at dispatch with 14 Volunteers. As units were responding they were advised that the indications were a Chimney Fire with Extension into the House. Safety 3A (Johnson) arrived on the scene and advised smoke showing. Truck 3 and Engine 33 arrived next with the Truck laddering the House and the Engine laying a split lay from Boxwood and Quince and established the Command of the Incident. Engine 33's crew advanced a 1.75" handline into the front door and the Truck Crew began opening up the walls checking for extension. Engine 93 arrived just after Engine 33 and picked up the supply line and their crew went to work assisting Engine 33's crew. The fire was knocked down quickly by the crews preventing it from reaching into the attic and was contained to the outside walls around the chimney. Once the fire was placed under control the Incident was scaled back to units from Bay District and Leonardtown. Crews operated a short time wrapping up and wetting down the area further and then returned to quarters.
